The people want it, audiences have spoken. We are fed up with waiting a year or two for the next season to happen. We’re looking at you “Stranger Things” & “Euphoria.”

Studio execs are always looking for the next “Friends,” the next tent pole show that they can hang their career on. But with the addition of acquiescing to shareholder demands while trying to maximize profits. The art has been lost, the creativity has been stifled.

Studios and streamers alike are into this churn and burn model which is why we don’t see many shows moving past a season two. Aside from the traditional season three contract negotiations, studios aren’t investing past a sophomore run even if the show is growing and finding an audience.

Promotions can sometimes be few and far between depending on the studio or streamer. Apple tv for instance has an incredible slate of television right now but outside of “Ted Lasso,” what other show have you seen promoted?

“Palm Royale” is another great show, but if you miss the local metro bus riding down Olympic Blvd., you might not have seen a billboard or a poster. In this ever growing world of A.I. and hedge funds studios are spending or lack there of on other assets.

At the end of the day the investment needs to be in the product. Make a good product, people will enjoy it and maybe tell someone. Make a great product, people will not only tell people but they’ll be repeat customers. Attention is the capital, and the best way to keep your audience coming back to your platform is to have something that they love to watch. We binge 90s and early 2000 shows because there’s alot of episodes, there’s variety, and its comforting.

We grew up knowing every Thursday night at 9pm a new episode of “Friends” would be on, along with a new “Will & Grace.” People showed up, we knew what to expect, we we able to fall in love with the characters. People were legitmiately upset with Ross and Rachel, they earned that though the storytelling. Rushing through stories, you miss a lot of character development. If studios want another “Friends” or another “Ross & Rachel” they have to earn it through the story.
