The Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso have the ability to become the Tim Duncan and David Robinson of the WNBA. Add Chennedy Carter to the mix who is having a terrific season averaging 17 points, and you have a new BIG three in Chicago.
The argument against Angel Reese averaging a double-double as a rookie, and who is also the number two player with the most double-doubles in a single season. Not just a rookie stat but the entire WNBA is “she gets her own rebounds.” Which seems like a sensible argument if your a new fan to basketball, but there are two sides to the ball. Offense and Defense.

Bottom line is rebounding wins games, argue with your mama if you don’t believe me. Collecting your own missed shots is actually a skillset that you should grow as a big, and when you get good at rebounding your own misses naturally you get great at rebounding other people’s misses. Every basketball coach ever in the history of basketball wants to get a second chance at a missed shot.
Obviously you should make the shot first, but if you miss, logically you should want to get the ball. Players should want to tear through their opponents to get the ball. That’s exactly what Angel Reese is doing. She is a dawg, she is a fighter and more importantly she knows how to hustle.
Now couple that with the tenacity of Kamilla Cardoso, who has been quietly putting up strong and consistant numbers. She currently leads all rookies in blocked shots. A stat that Cameron Brink held untill recently, it should be noted that when Cameron Brink gets healthy she will also be a force to be reckoned with down in the paint. Kamilla and Angel have the ability if both can stay healthy, they can become the scariest front court in the league.

If the Sky make the playoffs this season, they are currently (At the writing of this article) sitting in the 8th seed with only a few games left in the season it’s still a tight playoff race. If Angel and Kamilla, during the off-season can get their timing together, they will be an unstoppable force. One of the special things of being a teammate of someone you’ve played with or against since the 9th grade is you know tendencies. It should be easy for them to add some razzle-dazzle to their perspective games.
With things heating up, this 2024 WNBA season is very fun to watch.
